𑣲𝄞 Virginia started her musical journey early in life and began writing songs around age 8. Her father was a singer, guitarist, and songwriter who was inducted into the Museum of the Gold Coast Music Hall of Fame and played with multiple well known musicians during his lifetime. Despite his musical prowess Virginia was mostly a self taught musician as her father hung up his guitar and went to go live on a tropical island so she had no formal training in early life and learned everything by ear.  Virginia spent her teenage years writing music on a classical acoustic guitar and a tiny portable keyboard and a portable hand held recorder she took everywhere in case a song came to her.

She went on to spend most of her early musical life playing the bass guitar, singing, songwriting and fronting her own band who played in the NYC/Tristate area for many years. She received much acclaim for her proficient bass playing which integrated slap and tap techniques into hard rock music and sited her influences as being Stanley Clarke, Stu Hamm and Flea and had several bass teachers including Randy Coven. Her band was invited to play in France as an opening act for Bo Diddly and years later she had the honor of being invited to sing in Carnegie Hall with a solo violinist for an opening ceremony. She went on to switch genres and explored a solo career in pop/dance music for some years. Spiritually she has a strong belief that songs come through her, not from her.

Much like Paul McCartney, she believes that songs come through us from the spirit world which is why the best songs just flow out of us , sometimes even in our dreams. She has a strong focus on lyrics and melodies, her lyrics are almost always reflective of a deep emotional state and reflect emotions about relationships, life and the juxtaposition of all the little things that affect us and the world around us.

While she still has great regard for her 4 acoustic guitars  and 4 Ibanez basses (her favorite of course being the purple classic RB800 bass)(although she usually played the red one more ; ). She has spent many hours recording both vocals & bass in studios and has sat in front of many a mixing board for hours and now, with all the technical advances in the world, she has really been excited to be able to focus more on songwriting itself now and on just expressing herself creatively on multiple levels. Virginia writes her own lyrics, melodies, chord progressions, and musical arrangements from start to finish. Like many modern artists, she also embraces AI as a creative post production tool, using it to enhance instrumentation, while remaining the 100% the author and creative force behind her music. She sees AI not as a replacement for musicianship, but as another instrument through which songs can come to life. She enjoys many genres and these days, she is focusing on songwriting, and collaborating with others from all over the world, from California to the Bahamas, on projects of all genres. Shed is proud that half of her newest album she co-wrote with her favorite children ages 8 – 12.  She looks forward to continuing to write music for the soul. 💜
